Lott Physical Therapy chose our smart card system to manage customer attendance and usage of facilities. Our software talks to their data base where customer's payments and allowed usages (visits) are recorded. Also they went for complete package with external access door control.

EXTENDED HOURS - At front door customers use smart card with outdoor smart card reader. Smart card gets checked by PC running SC Manager software. If customer is allowed in door automatically unlocks. That system works during extended hours of operation (early morning, later evening). Overnight door stays locked.

REGULAR HOURS - During regular hours front door is unlocked. Customer use smart card reader at front desk to log in. SC Manager checks to identify users and customer's picture pops up on the screen. Also there is warning if customer's dues are not paid. Operator can handle an unlimited number of cards. Also, we are printing cards with custom logo and messages as shown on the left.

Cards used are ZC Basic Cards 3.7 and readers are OmniKey. Oudoor reader is Mini Smart. Thousands of the smart cards are being consumed by this innovative customer. They just keep going and going adding more customers (smart cards) to their system.

Health Smart Card for Caribbean - Curacao

Today country of sunshine Curacao has one of the more advanced Health Smart Card systems in the world!

Process initiated by major insurance company and software/service company ACTS - Curacao. Almex SmartCard Solutions provided all smart cards and smart card software. Whole process started with Health Insurance company approaching ACTS and explaining that they have to do drastic change in way the visits to doctors and claims are handled. Improvements suppose to prevent waste of time, money and resources, double payments, speed up claims procedures and preventing abuse of the system.

ACTS and Almex wrote detailed requirements which was basically blueprint how system will be used. Project was divided into 3 phases where second and third phase carried functionality improvements of the first phase. Cards selected are Zeit Control ZC3.9, readers OmniKey and Xiring. Several months took for smart card programmers to complete their job and about twice as much ACTS programmers to create central data base and user's interface screens. There was also time spent on testing and fixing small things.

ACTS decided to use desktop and portable smart card terminals for medical professionals. They also decided to print cards themselves and as result of all above 70 thousand smart cards are now being distributed to practically every person in Curacao. For doctors usage they decided to replicate French Vitale Smart Health card system so every doctor's office is equipped with Xi Max, handheld smart card reader. Almex SmartCard Solutions is distributor for Xiring products that makes Xi Max device.

ACTS and Insurance company are in process of personalizing smart cards so every person in Curacao will get their own Smart health Card. System we provided and built is not only business kind of solution that is functional for what it does, but it also makes great service to Country of Curacao. Every person involved shall see benefit from having and using smart card system:

* Medical insitutions shall reduce time for administration of records thus devoting more productive time for providing actual health care

* Health care system of the Curacao shall become leaner, well oiled machine reducing costs to all parties involved. Today where health care costs are running out of hand in many countries all over the World that is a target for everyone.

Soon we will have feedbacks from the users and doctors but so far it looks like that everybody is looking forward to get and use the Health Smart card system. Almex SmartCards Solutions is already seeing more inquiries coming from Caribbean where different organizations are asking about same or similar solution.

DigiCoins Canada ePurse Project Launched - Sudbury, Ontario, Canada

On June 30. 2009. DigiCoins Canada launched first Canadian privately owned smart card based ePurse project!

Project is starting with 25000 dual interface smart cards and 25000 balance readers. DigiCoins is now signing up merchants and starts selling smart card packages they call DigiVault. They hope to cover most of the Sudbury's commercial locations in next 6 months thus enabling consumers to enjoy full benefits of the ePurse system.

DigiVault cards are loaded with comprehensive gift/loyalty schemes and will enable consumers to use and get electronic cash with every single purchase they make. There is no costs to consumer and merchants shall enjoy increase in traffic and much lower rates of doing business with DigiCoins system compared to credit card companies that charge exorbitant fees to merchants and consumers. Besides that all personal and commercial account management is done on WEB site in electronic form at no cost to users.

DigiVaults are being sold at many locations in Sudbury and will gain popularity as a gift item that you can use every day at many places. Dual interface JCOP31 (NXP) smart card is selected as secure, portable media that carries around electronic cash. It is different from standard credit cards which require huge infra structure to be able to function. In this case electonic money is securely stored in the smart chip and acts as a cash card usually called ePurse. Cards can but doesn't have to be personalized. Flow of transactions is overseen by unique card number stored in the chip as well.

Inventor of the system envisioned usage of the balance readers (Xiring) to help every cardholder to check balance of the card and read card serial number at any time. Serial number of the card is quite important since it allows free access to DigiCoins WEB site where registration and login allos card holders to view transactions list. Balance readers are small keychain style smart card readers with LCD and smart card slot. By inserting smart card into the balance reader display presents available balance and CID (Card ID) number.

Almex SmartCard Solutions supplied: smart cards, printing for same, readers, balance readers and parts of software (NXP, Xiring, OmniKey hardware). We at Almex are pretty sure that DigiCoins system will grow strong in next few years and are ready to follow up with cards and equipment needed.

Soon usage of the cards shall extend to the city buses, taxi cabs and many other places where before you could not use any other form of payment other than cash or pre-paid tickets.
